Day 7 - About to Pass Out

2009 - 365 - 07

Taken right before I almost passed out at my keyboard. I played volleyball then went to a bar with my team. We lost again. I'm sick of losing. I was in a terrible mood right after the game and didn't feel like being social. But I decided I might have more fun at volleyball if I get to know my new team a little better. So we hung out and drank beer, played darts and bounced coins into each other's drinks. Of course, I stayed out a bit too late and drank a bit too much.

Day 6 - When Jaw Blends Into Chin

Day 5 - Dusty B. Demented

Boredom turned this photo out. It kinda scares me a little. The title was borrowed from the John Waters movie Cecil B. Demented. The sad thing is, I've never seen it. I just thought I looked a little demented so that popped into my mind. I didn't even know it was a movie & character. I thought maybe it was a real person from the early days of hollywood. Perhaps a silent film star. Boy was I wrong. LOL.

Here are a few memorable one liners lifted from IMDB.

"Nobody here but us whackers."

"Power to the people who punish bad cinema!" (only a line John Waters would write)

"Demented Forever"

"Tell me about Mel Gibson's dick and balls!"

"Pain is pleasure! Slavery is freedom! Suicide for Satan!"

"Hi, I'm Raven, I'm a Satanist and I'll be doing your make-up."

"Family is just a dirty word for censorship."

When I edited the photo I was going for a graphic novel/ KMFDM cover art type feel. I've rediscovered KMFDM. I had friends back in the early 90's that absolutely loved them. Back then I was into the whole Seattle grunge rock thing. So industrial/horror/techno music w/graphic sexual content really wasn't my taste. Obviously things have changed. Now KMFDM is like light at the end the forgettable music tunnel. Give it a listen. Industrial music that didn't turn into total noise.

Day 4 - Newest Addition

2009 - 365 - 04

Today, I checked out a house for sale near my brother and visited a new addition to our family, my niece Marley Jenay. She turned 1 month old today.

Day 3 - Gluttony

2009 - 365 - 03

"Midway upon the journey of our life
I found myself within a forest dark,
For the straightforward pathway had been lost...."

I have become somewhat obsessed with the seven deadly sins. I've always been a big fan of the movie Se7en, starring Morgan Freeman & Brad Pitt. Then about a year ago I came across Dante's Inferno at a local bookstore. I'm not much of a reader/intellectual so tackling this classic Italian epic poem probably wasn't the best choice. But I bought it anyway. I was right. I didn't have the patience to sit, read, & comprehend it upon purchase. But after spotting these 7 deadly sins T-shirts at Macy's in Minneapolis this summer, my interest in learning more about the sins was renewed. With a Midwestern winter in full force, I have plenty of free time. So I've picked up the book again as a way to take a break from the online world where I spend WAY too many hours. Check back to see the other shirts and maybe even some drawings I find. I'm putting serious thought into incorporating the sins into a tattoo design. We'll see how that goes.

Day 2 - The Sun Sets On Bad Habits

2009 - 365 - 002

Watching the sun set, downtown Davenport, IA. This is one of many great views from the office building where I work. The Mississippi River runs from east to west through the Quad Cities. Pass over the picture for notes about what is in the view. On clear days, five bridges are visible from our windows. I sometimes take for granted how beautiful the views are.

Day 1 - The Return of 365 Days of MEEEEEE!

I've never been much of a goal-oriented person. But I'm planning on making 2009 a big year for me. My top ten goals in order:

1. Lose weight (at this pace I'm heading for heart attack & diabetes-land)
2. Move (either to a new apartment now or buy a house by spring 2010)
3. Drink less. (it adds
nothing to my life, and will help me achieve goal 1 & 4)
4. Go debt free by 2010 (first time in almost 6 years)
5. Apply for new positions at work. (bring on some change)
6. Fly somewhere (likely North Carolina in March or April)
7. See as many concerts as possible. (Andrew Bird, Rufus, Muse, & Daytrotter shows)
8. Take 1 or 2 road trips with friends to a new city (Atlanta, Denver, or SF sound fun)
9. Be more bold about approaching guys that interest me.
10. Find volleyball leagues to play in year round.

I'm excited, and up for the challenge.
